Just a short drive from Angels Camp is the beautiful Stanislaus National Forest. During the Winter season, the forest transforms into a beautiful winter wonderland offering a variety of snow sports such as snowmobiling and more...Head up highway 4 to Bear Valley, Ca and get ready to explore the forest. Snowmobile rentals are available from Bear Valley Snowmobile or you can bring your own. Permits may be required, so be sure to check in with the forest service before heading out on your own.
What do we do in the high country when Mother Nature hasn't yet brought the snows for us to stride on? We put on the skates! This January there's a unique opportunity to sample our frozen lakes, which are usually buried in snow this time of year. Bear Valley Cross Country has skates for rent and maintain their own skating pond in the Bear Valley meadow. Mosquito Lake, in the video above, is on Ebbetts Pass, just up the road from Bear Valley.
